Happy Easter!

My mum’s birthday this year is two days after Easter Monday, so I made her this Easter-themed early-birthday cake.

It consists of two layers of sponge sandwiched together with last summer’s home-made plum-and-blueberry jam, covered in fresh stem ginger butter cream. The decorations are green marzipan, Cadbury’s mini eggs, molten dark chocolate and sugar pearls. And even the marzipan roses – a last-minute addition because I didn’t want to waste any, glued on with left-over chocolate and butter cream – somehow survived my driving.
